SMART SYSTEM, Ultrasonic Antifouling
Ultrasonic antifouling represents a revolutionary approach to a long-standing challenge in boat maintenance.
Vessels are naturally subject to the accumulation of organisms such as algae and barnacles below the waterline, leading to unsightly and damaging buildup.
This problem, if left untreated, can significantly impair a boat's performance and efficiency. Ultrasonic antifouling systems offer a proactive and low-maintenance solution.
These systems use ultrasonic waves to prevent the accumulation of marine growth, ensuring that the hull remains clean and efficient.
By preventing significant buildup, these systems not only maintain the boat's aesthetic appeal but also improve its speed and fuel efficiency.
The technology effectively eliminates the laborious process of regular fouling removal, allowing for easy and continuous maintenance.

Operation
This innovative antifouling technology is ideal for yachts, boats, and sailboats. The system, which includes a transducer and a generator, is mounted inside the hull, allowing the vessel to remain in the water during installation. It is particularly suited to hulls made from materials such as aluminum, carbon, steel, and GRP (glass-reinforced plastic).
The effectiveness of this ultrasonic antifouling system is remarkable. It operates by emitting multiple frequencies of ultrasonic sound waves in rapid bursts. These sound waves create a dynamic environment of alternating high and low pressure. The low pressure generates microscopic bubbles, while the high pressure causes these bubbles to collapse, a phenomenon known as cavitation. This process not only prevents micro-fouling but also inhibits the growth of larger organisms such as barnacles.
This new antifouling approach leverages the cavitation effect to disrupt the cells of microorganisms, thereby preventing them from attaching to the submerged parts of the boat, such as the hull, rudder, and propeller. In doing so, it also limits the growth of algae and shellfish, often attracted to these areas. An additional benefit of this technology is its environmental friendliness.
Ultrasonic technology, commonly used in industry and medicine for cleaning, is the foundation of this device. It converts electrical energy into mechanical energy via a transducer. This transducer emits ultrasonic vibrations that resonate through the boat's hull, effectively preventing biofilm formation. Additionally, this electronic barnacle protection system is safe for dogs, making it an excellent choice for pet-friendly boating.
Where to Position the Transducers?
The transducer and generator are installed inside the hull, allowing the vessel to remain in the water during installation. The system's processor in the Main Unit offers individual control over each transducer, optimizing power, frequency, and operating time based on the area most prone to fouling, such as propellers and rudders.
For effective distribution:
Install one transducer per 10m² at the bow
Install one transducer per 5m² at the stern, focusing on areas near rudders, propellers, and flaps.
Configuration examples:
For a 36-foot motor yacht with 1 or 2 engines, use 2 LITE2 sets with 4 transducers
For a 50-foot motor yacht with 1 or 2 engines, use one PRO6 set with 6 transducers
For a 45-foot sailboat, use 2 LITE2 sets with 4 transducers
For a 28-foot motorboat with an outboard engine, use one LITE2 set with 2 transducers, placing one at the bow and one at the stern.
Motor Yacht Position up to 30 feet
Sailboat Position up to 30 feet
Motor Yacht up to 60 feet
ECO-FRIENDLY
Reduce Your Carbon Footprint!
With new environmental regulations aimed at significantly reducing the effectiveness of traditional antifouling paints, Smart System offers ultrasonic anti-fouling systems as a proactive addition to traditional antifouling methods. Using the latest technologies in digital electronics and transducers, Smart System has made a leap forward over its competitors to meet the needs of the marine industry.
Testing has demonstrated that electronic antifouling products have no adverse effects on fish and marine mammals. Ultrasonic frequencies remain very close to the hull structure and it is evident that the signal does not stray into open water.
